Ramsey County Board approves $6 million request for Green Line costs

The Ramsey County Board of Commissioners voted to approve their annual contribution to the operating budget for the Green Line light-rail on Tuesday, 7-0, without public discussion. This year’s price tag is $6 million.The county and Metro Transit have butted heads over the price tag in past years. The board tabled Metro Transit’s $5.8 million request in 2021, citing unexpected additional costs.Conflict over yearly payments raised uncertainties about continuing to fund the service long-term, especially considering the decline in ridership brought on by the onset of COVID-19.Riders have continued to cite safety concerns aboard the light-rail, with Metropolitan Council president Charlie Zelle acknowledging “pockets of bad behavior” last year. Province approves $525k for Reservoir and Pump Station Engineering project in Coaldale

By Erika MathieuSunny South NewsThe Town of Coaldale will see an accelerated timeline on a high-priority capital project thanks to provincial funding provided by the Alberta Municipal Water/Wastewater Partnership (AMWWP) program.“In the next five to 10 years we are going to see massive growth in this area (…) so we’re going to need to get some of these projects done,” said MLA for Taber-Warner Grant Hunter during the public announcement at the Coaldale Civic building on April 18.Hunter said as the Town of Coaldale and southern Alberta more broadly continues to experience a “surge in investment and economic growth,” infrastructure must be in place to support that growth.During the announcement, MLA Hunter was joined by town staff and administration to speak on the provincial funding which will go towards the engineering costs of the Town’s potable water reservoir and pump station project. The new Waterton Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) will provide secure and reliable electricity to Waterton Lakes National Park and ensure grid access to the townsite during needed repairs or upgrades. This is FortisAlberta’s first battery storage system and will support the tourist destination in accommodating the massive influx of visitors during the busy travel season. County adopts updated commercial development strategy

The updated document guides Council and administration, developers, and landowners, providing an overview of development trends in Lethbridge County and is used to identify future locations for commercial and industrial development, and providing “preferred” development locations. Although squash are typically associated with end of summer harvest, their fast production time of about two months makes them a valuable homegrown produce staple in the summer months. In my opinion, zucchini is the MVP of veggies. It’s suitable for beginners and even black thumbs, fast growing, container/small space-friendly, and versatile.This recipe is also perfect for a crowd and can be served alongside a protein or salad for an easy dinner, or on its own as a light lunch.Although there are not any real rules for how to prepare your tart, I do prefer to use a low-profile tart pan. Administration said this figure is up slightly from 2022 when 50 development permit applications were submitted in the first quarter. As well, 49 development permits were issued, 15 of which were residential in nature.
