BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Saratoga County District Attorney has appealed a decision to toss out an indictment against one of the people involved in an officer-involved shooting in Saratoga Springs.A judge dropped the eight charges against Vito Caselnova in September citing the prosecution's presentation to a grand jury was flawed. The judge concluded that the jury did not receive proper instructions on what to consider and did not properly explain the state's self-defense law. The shooting took place in November 2022 on Caroline Street. Officers were responding to a dispute between Caselnova and a group of people from the Utica area. Second Troy officer sues gun manufacturer

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Troy police officer is suing gun manufacturer SIG Sauer after he claimed his gun went off unexpectedly. According to court documents, Officer Justin Ashe said his gun discharged in 2020 while it was in its holster. Get the latest news, weather, sports and entertainment delivered right to your inbox! The bullet hit his foot and exited near his ankle. He suffered a broken bone and was out of work for five months. The lawsuit blames the gun's design and argues it was not tested properly. He's seeking an unspecified amount of damages.Ashe is the second Troy officer to sue the company. Sgt. Michael Colwell told NEWS10 in 2021 his gun went off while it was holstered during a training exercise. Berkshire County man accused of vandalizing crosswalks

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. (NEWS10) -- A Berkshire County man was charged with vandalism after allegedly damaging three crosswalks in Great Barrington that were painted in support of the LGBTQ community. The investigation began when crosswalks at three different intersections were found with tire marks.Police used surveillance videos from a local business to identify the suspect. The damage has been repaired. It cost the town about $600.

Suspected DUI driver taken into custody after pursuit

A person suspected of driving recklessly while under the influence of drugs or alcohol was taken into custody by officers with the California Highway Patrol after a nearly hourlong pursuit through South Los Angeles. The chase began at around 5:30 p.m. as the driver was traveling in southbound lanes of the 110 Freeway before exiting Florence onto surface streets. A person suspected of reckless DUI was taken into custody after a pursuit with the California Highway Patrol on Oct. 25, 2023. (KTLA)While the pursuit suspect was not clocked at high-speeds, aerial footage from Sky5 captured the driver blowing through red lights and stops signs.The suspect was eventually taken into custody by CHP near the intersection of West 62nd Street and South Broadway.

The attorney representing the man charged with murder in the deaths of four Pepperdine University students who were struck and killed along the Pacific Coast Highway last week says his client was being chased by another vehicle.Michael Kraut, the defense attorney for Fraser Bohm, claimed that the 22-year-old was involved in a road rage incident that began at Duke's Malibu, the famous bar and restaurant located on PCH about three miles west of the deadly crash site."We have evidence that the Sheriff's Department did not want to take that clearly shows that there was a road rage incident that started at Duke's, that this person chased him and tried to push him off the side of the road," Kraut said in an interview with KTLA. Los Angeles to consider lifting COVID-19 vaccine mandate for city employees

Los Angeles City Council President Paul Krekorian introduced a motion to the council Wednesday that would lift the city's requirement that city employees be vaccinated against COVID-19.The motion was introduced by Krekorian and fellow councilmember Traci Park, and was seconded by councilmembers Heather Hutt, Kevin De Leon, John Lee and Curren Price.If passed, the motion would repeal an article in the Los Angeles Administrative Code which required COVID-19 vaccination for all current and future employees. The requirement was put into place in December 2021, about a year after the first COVID-19 vaccines went to market.The mandate led to some protests and several dozen employees being docked pay over their refusal to get the vaccine. Missing 15-year-old girl may be in Gilroy

(KRON) -- A missing Central California girl may be in the Gilroy area, the Gilroy Police Department learned Wednesday. Adriana Deleon, 15, is from the Porterville area in Tulare County. She was last seen in Porterville on Oct 5, but her parents believe she might be in Gilroy. Deleon was described as a white/Hispanic female with blue/green eyes and blonde hair. She is roughly 5'3" and 135-140 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black romper. Anyone who sees her is asked to call (559) 310-2862 or their local police department.
